About
I am a legal historian of the American carceral state in the late-20th and 21st centuries. My current research centers on the juvenile justice system in Michigan. In particular, I am interested in the rise of juvenile life without parole, children's experience with crime, policing, and the criminal legal system, and the emergence of the school-to-prison pipeline.
I am/was also a joint J.D/Ph.D student (I graduated law school in 2025), and I am more than happy to talk with anyone who is interested in potentially pursuing this path. Seriously, if you have any questions about possibly doing a J.D./Ph.D program, please do not hesitate to reach out to me. I'm always glad to help demystify this process for people.
