Doctoral Candidate in Anthropology and History
About
Alex Jreisat is a third-year doctoral student in Anthropology and History. He is interested in exploring questions around borders, circulation, law, and kinship in the 20th century Levant (Jordan/Palestine).
Other interests include the digital humanities, specifically 3D-modeling/printing/mapping, machine-learning, and Handwritten Text Recognition (HTR). He is currently co-leading a project to create a machine-learning model which can digitize the corpora of late Ottoman sharʿiah court records from the Arab provinces.
