On May 1, family, friends, faculty, and staff gathered at the Michigan Theater to celebrate the graduation of 136 History majors.
Brian Porter-Szűcs, director of undergraduate studies, and Kate Wroblewski, assistant director of undergraduate studies, served as emcees. William Glover, the department chair, delivered welcome remarks, and Jewell Mason gave an inspiring student address to the Class of 2026.
Matthew Countryman, associate professor of History and Afroamerican and African Studies, presented the ceremony's keynote address, "History in Interesting Times."
Hillary Poudeu Tchokothe, Elizabeth Harrington, and Delanie Shaffer each won the department’s Undergraduate Award for Leadership and Service. Professor Joshua Cole received the Undergraduate Teaching Award, which was presented by History Club's Elizabeth Harrington and Delanie Shaffer.
