Alumni Connections

U-M History PhD alumni who appeared at the 2019 conference, "U-M History in the Public Service: A Vision for the Humanities Degree in the 21st Century."

We empower undergraduate and graduate students to find success in a variety of diverse career trajectories. Our goal is to build strong connections with alumni. Fortunately, the Department of History has a large network of successful alumni in an extensive range of careers. In fact, Michigan's graduates are part of the biggest alumni community in the world, currently numbering around 585,000.

On November 21-22, 2019, U-M History presented  "U-M History in the Public Service: A Vision for the Humanities PhD in the 21st Century." This conference served as a debut for our expanding HistoryLab and PhD internship programs, but also an opportunity to talk with PhD alumni and colleagues about how to expand, improve, and implement our goals. Learn about the panelists and view the program.

University Career Alumni Network (UCAN) History Group (PhD Alumni)

UCAN convenes alumni in a digital space, where they can connect each other, link with current students, offer career advice, and serve as informal mentors. The UCAN History group features U-M History PhD alums who can offer their insight, experience, and guidance to current graduate students. We invite all alums and current graduate students to join.

The Rackham Graduate School generously supports the UCAN network. Be sure to navigate to the History Group hosted through the graduate school hub, Rackham Connect.

To join, register with UCAN and then request to join the History group. You can find a guide to creating a graduate student profile here.
