Nicolette Vollero Levy

Nicolette Levy is a Forsyth Visiting Graduate Student Fellow in the History of Art at the University of Michigan and a PhD candidate in the Science and Technology of Archaeology and Cultural Heritage at the Cyprus Institute in Nicosia, Cyprus. Her dissertation examines the role of the artist in shaping the religious and cultural identities of Cyprus during the period of Latin rule through an investigation of the historical, iconographic and material aspects of their works. Her interdisciplinary framework integrates traditional modes of art historical inquiry with scientific analysis of materials and techniques, including multispectral technical photography and optical spectroscopy.

Since 2021, Nicolette has been a Graduate Research Assistant at the Andreas Pittas Art Characterization Laboratories of the Cyprus Institute, where she collaborates with scientists on the documentation and non-invasive analysis of artworks and heritage objects.  She holds an MSc in Digital Cultural Heritage from the Cyprus Institute, as well as an MA in the History of Art and a BA in Classical Studies and History of Art from Tulane University.
