About
Julia LaPlaca researches European visual culture from the late medieval and early modern era. She graduated with a MA in Art History and Museum Studies from Case Western Reserve University (2019). While at CWRU, Julia interned at the Cleveland Museum of Art in the textile conservation department where she studied French and Flemish tapestries. In addition, Julia contributed curatorial research assistance to textile and prints & drawing exhibitions at the CMA. She co-curated an exhibition on Grand Rapids artist Jaro Hess (1889-1977) at the 106 Division Gallery in Grand Rapids (2016) and assisted with program planning for the exhibition Stirring the World: Printmaking in the Age of Martin Luther (2017) at Calvin University’s Center Art Gallery. She has presented her research at the Midwest Art History Society Conference.
