2017 History of Art Graduation Ceremony Instructions

First: Congratulations!

Second: A few instructions for the Friday, April 28th ceremony.

  • Students should arrive between 10am-10:15am and will gather in the hallway outside Angell Hall Aud. A. Staff will be on hand with name cards for each student.

  • You may wear your graduation robe or dress clothes.

  • Family and friends are invited to be seated in the auditorium upon arrival.

  • At 10:30am SHARP, staff members will instruct students to proceed in a line into the auditorium and will be seated in reserved seats at the front of the auditorium (not with family members).

  • Welcome/introduction by the department chair & faculty.

  • Presentation of department undergraduate awards.

  • Students will be directed to  line up (one row at a time) to receive their cord & "certificate" (actual certificates will be mailed to your home address next week).

  • Staff will collect name cards at this time and your name will be read from the cards.

  • When your name is read, you will walk across the stage to receive your "certificate" and the cord will be placed around your shoulders. (Note: There is a step up to the stage. If you will require use of the ramp, please let us know in advance.)

  • After all names have been called, everyone will move to the UMMA Forum (the area outside the gift shop) for the reception.

History of Art staff will be on hand at all times during the ceremony and reception. If you have any questions, call the History of Art main office at 764-5400.
