Graduation 2019
On May 3rd, 2019, the Department of History of Art and Museum Studies celebrated the graduation and accomplishments of the Class of 2019.
Department Chair Betsy Sears spoke on the overarching importance of integrating humanities into one's study and course-work, and thanked family and friends for encouraging students to pursue as much through History of Art and Museum Studies, pointing to the recent tragedy of the Notre Dame fire as a real-world example of why it is so important to keep the passion for humanities alive and well.
Our students have reported a wide variety of exciting ventures for their post-graduation plans: taking time off before returning to school and pursuing a Master's degree in theater, arts administration, creative writing, and historical museum studies; internships and jobs with local, national, and international museums and galleries; teaching English in France and Italy; working in the finance, sales, and consulting industries; working behind-the-scenes in theaters.
Our graduating class was comprised of:
- 28 History of Art majors
- 25 History of Art minors
- 12 Museum Studies minors
Of which:
- 11 students earned a degree in a double-concentration
- 1 student earned a degree in a triple-concentration
- 3 students were part of the Residential College
- 6 students who completed both a History of Art major and a Museum Studies minor
