Biography
I earned my B.A. in Biology with a minor in Gender Studies (then Women’s Studies) from St. Olaf College in 2013, my M.A. in Conservation Biology from Columbia University in 2015, and my Ph.D. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology in 2022.

Research Interests
I consider myself an evolutionary biologist and aspiring scholar of science studies, and I study stories about invasive species. For many invasion biologists, these stories are essential tools in protecting native species and conserving “biodiversity,” whereas other scholars critique these stories as misguided projects in dictating who and what belongs. I’m motivated by the following questions:
(1) How do biologists relate to invasive species? How have our attitudes to invasive species changed over time or across national boundaries?
(2) How do biologists decide which species movements are “natural?” What distinguishes a biological invasion from a range expansion?
