On April 15, 2012, the Black Student Union introduced one of its newest awards at its Annual Celebratory Banquet: the Elizabeth James Award, named after our very own DAAS Program Coordinator.  The Elizabeth James Award honors one student who has inspired others with his or her high academic achievement and tireless work at making the university better. The presenters stated, “Anyone who knows Beth understands that after being in her presence, one is suddenly overcome with spiritual satisfaction… Throughout her years here at the university, Beth has been committed to minority communities, especially on issues that affect the African American and Native American communities. No matter what your concentration or past experience is, your undergraduate career isn’t complete until you’ve been in the presence of the greatness that is Elizabeth James.”
