DAAS Class Size Policy
The department considers a discussion section filled when enrollment reaches twenty-five (25) students, recognizing the potential for reduction within sections with regard to programmatic needs. DAAS' assignments of GSIs are implemented in compliance with LSA's GSI class size policy, which can be found here.
Selection Process
Candidates will be evaluated for this position based on the strength of the application package. GSIs for AAS 275 will be selected by the DAAS faculty member teaching the class and final approval will come from the DAAS Executive Committee. In making hiring decisions, the department considers academic qualifications (prior college record, and current academic record); competence to teach in particular courses; prior teaching performance (teaching evaluations and/or supervisor evaluations); applicants' and faculty members' stated teaching preferences; and departmental needs. The department may hire students from a variety of programs across the college and university.
