Sarah Hodin graduated in 2013 from U of M with a double major in anthropology and African studies. While she was studying abroad in Nairobi, Kenya as a Junior, Sarah met a talented artist named Fredrick who lived with his family in the slums of Kibera.

Together, Sarah and Fredrick Gor founded Nyora Beads, a 501c3 nonprofit organization that gives 4-year high school scholarships to children from Kibera. 100% of the profits from sales of their fair trade jewelry and crafts, also handmade in Kenya, go directly into these scholarship funds. So far, Nyora Beads has supported ten children to get the education they want and deserve. All of their products are handcrafted with care from recycled cow bone by Co-Director Fredrick Gor and his team of talented artists in Kenya.
