GalleryDAAS Opening Reception: Mary Sibande

Sibande On Campus encompasses the exciting array of events related to South African artist Mary Sibande’s Kidder Residency in the Arts at the Institute for the Humanities. It includes an original exhibit of paintings produced onsite at the Institute for the Humanities Gallery, a Penny W. Stamps lecture, and exhibitions of Sibande’s existing work at GalleryDAAS, the U-M Museum of Art, and the Stamps School Slusser Gallery. During her stay, co-sponsored by Arts @ Michigan, Sibande will maintain an open studio at the Stamps School of Art & Design, collaborating with other institutions on campus and utilizing the university’s wealth of resources and expertise to facilitate her work. This project represents a unique cross-campus collaboration surrounding the work of one artist and brings together the energy and ideas of five U-M entities
