“The BSP community is like a mosaic, composed of many different people from various backgrounds. Our community is a true place for innovation, motivation, and camaraderie. I have learned so much about myself and my goals through interacting with my peers. The BSP team provided students with numerous opportunities to achieve success in both their projects and personal growth. Your first year is pivotal to the success of your collegiate career, so it’s important to start on a good note. When I joined BSP, I not only received many significant opportunities, but I also gained a tremendous support system that truly cares.”
"I was initially apprehensive about joining BSP, but I’m so glad I stuck with it—it led me to one of my closest friends and now sister, Dawn Jula. She has been a pillar of support through some of the hardest times in my life. Together, and with the help of BSP + optiMize, we founded Roots & Wings—a family-like community on campus for students from foster care, adoption, kinship care, incarcerated parents, and more. As a BSP alum, it was everything I could have asked for and more. I had the privilege of meeting and staying connected with the most amazing people. It was incredibly uplifting to see people who looked like me in the hallways, bathrooms, and public spaces. These shared experiences allowed us to form close bonds and create a true sense of community and belonging. BSP became a haven in a space that could sometimes feel isolating due to our social identities."
"BSP provided me with a supportive community and friendships that shaped my freshman year memories. The transition from Summer Bridge to the fall semester felt seamless thanks to BSP. After long days of classes, it was comforting to see familiar faces, especially those of color. BSP helped me expand my social circle while staying connected to peers from the summer.
Now, as an RA for BSP, I love building connections with scholars and feel refreshed knowing they’re enjoying their BSP experience.
