We're excited that you've chosen to attend U-M and join the Summer Bridge Scholars Program and CSP community. Good preparation will ensure that you get off to a successful start. There are a number of key tasks scholars must complete.
Pay Your Enrollment Deposit
All first-year students accepting their admission to U-M must submit a $300 non-refundable enrollment deposit by the May 1 deadline.
Have concerns about paying? There are options to request an extension or waiver through the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. This must be done before the May 1 deadline.
Apply for Financial Aid
Apply for financial aid by March 31. You must complete the following:
- 2024-25 FAFSA (U-M code: 002325)
- 2025-26 FAFSA (U-M code: 002325)
- 2025-26 CSS Profile (U-M code: 1839)
More details can be found on the Office of Financial Aid website.
Once scholars have paid their enrollment deposit and submitted their FASFA, they can log into Wolverine Access and head to the New & Prospective Student Center where they can make sure all necessary documents to recieve their financial aid package are submitted.
In addition, scholarships are available to reduce or eliminate student loans and help cover educational expenses for the summer. Complete the following as soon as possible to see if you qualify.
- Apply for financial aid by completing the 2024-25 FAFSA, 2025-26 FAFSA and CSS Profile (see above for more information)
- 2025 Summer Bridge Scholars Program Scholarship. All incoming Bridge scholars are eligible to apply, not just those admitted to LSA.
Scholars admitted to LSA are also encouraged to apply for the Four-Year Renewable Scholarship!
Set Up Your Uniqname and UMICH Email Account
After your enrollment deposit is received or waived, you will receive an email invitation to establish your U-M uniqname and email account. It is important to set up your email account right away as many communications from U-M offices (e.g. Financial Aid, New Student Programs, and Housing) will be sent to your U-M email account.
Submit Your Vaccination Records
U-M requires all students living in Michigan Housing or attending the Ann Arbor campus to submit documentation regardless of whether or not they are vaccinated. This should be submitted ASAP as verification can take up to weeks to finalize and is required in order to receive a housing contract and move into the residential halls.
Those who are not vaccinated may be asked to submit an attestation stating they are not vaccinated and understand that they may be subject to additional public health protocols should there be a public health need. You can learn more about U-M's vaccination policy here and keep updated from U-M's health response team here.
Register for Orientation
In mid-late April, admitted scholars who have paid the $300 enrollment deposit or had their enrollment deposit waived will receive an email from the Office of New Student Programs to register for their academic advising date. This orientation will be virtual and take place in early June. Please note that in addition to this ONSP orientation, scholars will also attend an in-person orientation for the Summer Bridge Scholars Program June 22nd-June 26th, 2025.
There are a number of tasks that you will need to complete to help your advisor learn important information about you. These tasks will be listed on the MyAdvising Orientation checklist. You can also see these steps under our page labeled "Orientation."
Apply for Summer and Fall Housing
Housing applications will be released in early May. You will need to fill out an application for both summer and fall housing. Summer housing is required for the Summer Bridge Scholars Program. Please visit the U-M Housing website for more information.
