“As a graduate of the Program in International and Comparative Studies (PICS), I felt empowered and equipped with the necessary skills to be a strong candidate for many different career options. My PICS education provided me with opportunities to think critically, immerse myself in another culture while studying abroad, and have control over electives which enabled me to explore different areas of International Studies and regions of the world I had not previously been exposed to. Since graduating in 2014, I have lived and worked in Tel Aviv, New York City, Washington, D.C., Uganda, and am currently based in London. My roles have included Sub-Saharan African intelligence analyst, program coordinator, Princeton in Africa Fellow, and monitoring and evaluation associate.
My Michigan education, along with the work and field experience that I have gathered over the past four years, has allowed me to continue to explore various paths within the worlds of International Studies and International Development, and I have found myself full circle! I am currently completing a Masters of International Development and Humanitarian Experience at the London School of Economics. I wouldn't be where I am today without the endless support that I received from the PICS staff. Being surrounded by looming school deadlines and the constant pressures to look towards the future, I really appreciated the department's flexibility and willingness to work with me to achieve my goals, something I have taken with me moving forward in my career.”
