The US-UK Fulbright Commission is one of the most renowned and selective summer scholarship programs operating worldwide.

Michael will be experiencing the UK as part of the British Cultural Heritage program. The Summer Institutes form part of the US-UK Fulbright Commission’s work to promote leadership, learning and empathy between nations through educational exchange.

As a student at U-M, Michael writes for the Michigan Foreign Policy Council and Michigan Journal of Economics, serves as captain of the Michigan Ethics Bowl team, and works as a campus tour guide. He's excited for the chance to study in a big city for the first time and explore historical sites.

The Fulbright Summer Institutes cover participants’ major costs and provide them with distinctive support and a cultural education program, including comprehensive pre-departure guidance, enrichment opportunities in the UK and an opportunity to be part of the Fulbright alumni network.

The Commission selects participants through a rigorous application and interview process. In making these awards, the Commission looks not only for academic excellence but a focused application, a range of extracurricular and community activities, demonstrated ambassadorial skills, and a plan to give back to the recipient’s home country upon returning.

The International Institute is wishing Michael the best of luck as he embarks on this new adventure!
