Instituting archaeology: goals and challenges in creating centers for interdisciplinary inquiry

As part of the LSA Research Theme Semester in Archaeology, we invite you to join us in a discussion with Adam Smith of Cornell University, and Peter Von Dommelen of Brown University on Friday April 4. Both of these institutions are involved with new collaborative models for research on archaeology and material culture: The Cornell Institute of Archaeology and Material Studies and the Joukowsky Institute for Archaeology and the Ancient World at Brown. Through brief presentations and extended discussions, these speakers will share with us their experiences in forging and participating in interdisciplinary initiatives in their respective universities.

Coffee and pastries will be served at 9:30; a buffet lunch will be served at noon.
