Course Description

Only 3% of the world’s water is freshwater, 2/3 of which is locked up in ice. Understanding and protecting freshwater is critical to life on Earth.

Grab your white boards: this course is taught -- lectures and labs -- entirely in the field. You will study the physical, chemical, and biological features of lakes and rivers to appreciate their complex aquatic ecology. You will learn about the foremost threats to water quality, including nutrients, shoreline development, and invasive species.
