Course Description

Get your feet wet studying fish in the field!

As the climate in Michigan warms, the fish species in our local waterways are changing. Sample a variety of aquatic habitats in northern Michigan and analyze habitat characteristics and fish community composition. Learn to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of various research approaches. Examine key factors that determine possible ("fundamental") habitat range and interactions such as predation and competition that lead to actual ("realized") distributions.

*Taught in odd-numbered years.
