Open House: Working Effectively with Multilingual Writers in the University Classroom

Thursday, April 3, 2014
4:00 AM
North Quad 2155

Bring your questions about working with multilingual writers in the classroom to an Open House session and talk one-to-one with a multilingual specialist.

Do you have questions about working effectively with the multilingual students in your writing course? Would you like advice or guidance in responding to and grading multilingual students’ written work, in uncovering and clarifying the cultural assumptions wrapped up in your work, or in encouraging multilingual students to participate in classroom discussions? Bring questions – and samples of students’ work, if applicable – to one of Sweetland’s Multilingual Writers’ Open House sessions. Each hour-long session offers an opportunity for you to meet and talk one-to-one with a specialist in multilingual writing from the Sweetland Center for Writing.

Come visit us on any of the following dates:

Friday, February 28th from 1:00 – 2:00 pm in NQ 1185

Tuesday, March 18th from 5:00 – 6:00 pm in NQ 2175

Thursday, April 3rd from 4:00 – 5:00 pm in NQ 2155

Monday, April 21st from 5:00 – 6:00 pm in NQ 1175

If you are unable to attend one of these sessions, but would like to consult with one of Sweetland’s specialists in multilingual writing, contact Dr. Lori A. Randall at randlori@umich.edu or 764-6402.
