About
Thomas is a doctoral student at the University of Michigan studying American politics, with a focus on Indigenous Institutions (Tribal Governments) within the United States, Federal Indian Law and Native American Public Opinion. In addition to studying American politics, Thomas is creating a minor titled "Indigenous politics," which will allow Thomas to explore the Indigenous Politics literature across subfields and disciplines.
Thomas is a citizen of the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi and remains active in his community and Indian Country more broadly. Thomas's motivations to study Politics comes from his observation of his own Fathers and extended families involvement in his Nations politics, which produced a desire to better understand and communicate Indigenous peoples political realities.
