Graduates

The University of Michigan's Political Science Department is consistently ranked as one of the top programsĀ in the country. This ranking is based on peer evaluations of department members' scholarly innovations and achievements and on their ability to disseminate this information to a broad audience of undergraduates, graduates, and professionals.

The graduate program in Political Science at the University of Michigan is a Ph.D. program intended to develop scholars who manifest a high level of excellence in teaching and research as professional social scientists. It is distinguished by a wide variety of areas of specialization and ample opportunity to tailor programs to fit the needs and interests of individual students.

The curriculum is organized around seminars and specialized courses in research methods that build upon each other. Still, there are several to the doctorate, and distinctive subjects and fields are encouraged. More information about our graduate program can be found in our Program Overview.
