Ken is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Political Science at the University of Michigan. His specialization is in comparative politics, with a regional focus on Southeast Asia and the broader Asia-Pacific region. His research focuses on the politics of development, innovation, and capacity-building. Prior to his doctoral studies, Ken was a researcher at the Thailand Development Research Institute, where he researched how states can support economic upgrading in order to escape the middle income trap. Ken has also conducted research on political parties and voter behavior in Thailand.
Ken frequently provides media commentary on Thai politics to international outlets, and his analysis has been published in the Washington Post, Thai Enquirer, and Bangkok Post, among other news outlets. At Michigan, he has assisted with teaching courses on Chinese Politics and Southeast Asian Politics.
