Carolyn is a Michigan native who received both her undergraduate and law degrees at the University of Michigan. She is a senior partner at Reed Smith LLP, a global law firm, where she is a member of the firm’s Executive Committee and Audit Committee, and chairs the firm’s Talent Committee. She advises corporations, directors and officers, risk managers, lawyers and other professionals on insurance coverage, corporate indemnification and litigation matters nationally and internationally. Carolyn led the Reed Smith team that was approved by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in July 2010 as Special Counsel to Debtors to address insurance coverage issues in the Lehman Brothers matter, the largest bankruptcy in U.S. history. She was selected by Corporate Board Member magazine as one of the country’s 12 legal Superstars and the top D&O liability insurance lawyer in August 2001, and was confirmed as the nation’s top D&O liability insurance lawyer in the magazine’s feature on superstar corporate attorneys in 2004. In addition, Carolyn has been recognized by Chambers USA 2008 – 2012: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business and was named one of Business Insurance magazine’s “Women to Watch” in 2010. She was a Rhodes Scholar finalist and clerked in Washington D.C., prior to joining Sachnoff & Weaver in Chicago, which combined with Reed Smith in 2007.
