“The International Studies program reignited my passion for public affairs. When I first arrived at the University of Michigan, I struggled with imposter syndrome in my intended major and briefly set aside my interest in the field. However, discovering the International Studies major—particularly the Political Economy & Development sub-plan—gave me a fresh perspective on policy-making and public affairs. Pairing this with my Communications major, I found a powerful intersection of policy and storytelling, which ultimately led me to pursue a career in strategic communications consulting. Without the education and insights gained through International Studies, I likely would have taken a different career path—one that lacked the same sense of purpose and passion.”
Future Plans: “I will be interning at FTI Consulting as a Strategic Communications Intern in their Public Affairs Segment. After graduation, I either intend to pursue a career in strategic communications or public relations, or attend law school.”
