“My favorite experience that has come from my International Studies major is interning this past summer with Culture.pl, an organization based in Warsaw and a part of the Polish Ministry of Culture, which aims to promote Polish culture worldwide. Even though I was unable to travel to Poland due to COVID-19, I still felt incredibly connected to the whole office and my fellow intern, who was also a University of Michigan student. Through this internship, I was able to research complex social issues in Poland, connect to my own Polish heritage, and publish my own articles for global consumption. I feel incredibly lucky to have met and worked alongside the Culture.pl staff, who taught me so much and made the virtual internship process smooth. Now, my fellow intern and I plan to travel to Poland after graduation to explore and finally meet the team in person. I never would have received this opportunity without being an International Studies major, which has helped connect me with international organizations abroad.”
Future plans: “I plan to attend graduate school where I will most likely pursue a degree in International Relations. My career goal is to work in the intelligence community where I can combine my love for world politics and cultures while keeping our country safe.”
