Affiliations: I am a team leader for AIESEC in Michigan, a staff writer for the Michigan Journal of International Affairs (MJIA), and a fundraising volunteer at Freedom House Detroit.
“During my sophomore year, I studied abroad at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland for the entire academic year. While I attended the School of International Relations on their campus, I was exposed to a diverse international faculty that were undergoing current research in topics that fascinated me. My course was theory-intensive, which truly challenged myself and how I think about International Relations in an academic and practical manner. Throughout my time there, I was in an international environment that enriched me with various international perspectives, in and out of the classroom. This experience has solidified my desire to live and work abroad after graduation. Being in Scotland, during a politically contentious time due to Brexit and the general elections that took place while I was there, really pushed me out of my American bubble, something that I think is so invaluable for a student at the University of Michigan to experience. I am so thankful to the Program in International and Comparative Studies and Center for Global and Intercultural Study for my experiences abroad, they have forever changed how I look at and experience the world!”
Future plans: “In the future, I aspire to go into international human rights law, working with different NGOs, states, and individuals through litigation to uphold human rights standards across the world.
