The instructor, Dr.Wijdan Al-Sayigh, a well-known Arab writer, has over 16 years of experience in teaching and writing on Arabic literature and language. Her areas of expertise include: modern Arabic fiction, poetry, literary criticism, culture, and linguistics. She has published 24 books, three of which won renowned Arab prizes. Her first book, The Rhetorical Imagery in Feminist Text [Al-Sura Al-Bayania fi Annass Al-nisaie' Al-Amarati], won the Woman's Creations in Literature Award in Sharjah, 1998. Her bookThe Throne and the Hoopoe: Rhetorical Analysis for Yemeni poetry [Al-Arsh wa Al-Hudud], won the Al-afeef Cultural Award for Literature and Arts in Yemen 2003. Her latest book is entitled Shahrazad and Seductive Narration: Reading in Feminist Fiction [Shahrazad wa Ghuwayat al-Sard], published by Dar Al-Uloom Publishers in Beirut and Algeria, 2008. Her publications deal with social, political, and religious taboos in modern Arabic texts. She has also been an active contributor to many Arabic journals, periodicals, and literary magazines across the Arab world.
