Assistant Professor, History
About
David Tamayo is a historian of modern Latin America. His scholarship integrates the histories of right-wing politics, the middle classes, and Latin America's interconnectedness with the world. He is currently writing a book, tentatively titled, "Remaking the Right: Mexico's Middle Classes and the Rise of Transnational Conservatism." The book examines the Right's resurgence in post-revolutionary Mexico by focusing on the influence of American service clubs, particularly Rotary and Lions International. He teaches two courses on modern Mexico (HIST 363: "Modern Mexico" in the fall, and HIST 328: "In the Shadow of the Revolution: Mexico Since 1910" in the winter).
