About
Raevin Jimenez is an LSA Collegiate Fellow in the Department of History. She specializes in deep time history in southern Africa, with research interests in issues related to gender, social identity, embodied conditions, and politics. Her current work considers the ways southern African households mediated agrarian, commercial, and political transformation between 9th-20th century through the gendered and generational identities and conditions of their young people. Her work traces shifts in political ideology over a thousand years to identify long-term conceptual currents, and examine responses to dramatically changing circumstances. She teaches topics courses on gender, method, and historiography in Africa, as well as southern and South African history in the distant and more recent past.
