About
Hyewon Nam is the academic program specialist at the Nam Center for Korean Studies (NCKS), where she oversees the center’s student‑focused initiatives, including the Undergraduate and Graduate Fellows programs, Summer in Michigan, and the development of a new Korean Studies specialization within MIRS. She also does planning for the Nam Center Colloquium Series and student‑centered conferences.
Hyewon earned her B.A. in English from Boston University and her M.A. in Educational Studies from the University of Michigan. Before joining the University of Michigan, she spent three years in South Korea on a Fulbright grant, teaching high school full‑time and engaging in community‑based, cross‑cultural education. Her background as an educator continues to shape her approach to academic programming and student engagement.
