About
Mary Jo Kietzman has published two books as well as articles on a wide range of English Renaissance authors and subjects. A secondary interest is travel writing to the Middle East. She has published on Lady Mary Wortley Montagu's Turkish Embassy Letters and Orhan Pamuk's Nobel prizewinning novel, Snow. The latter essay has been translated into French and is included in the publication Cahier Pamuk. Dr. Kietzman teaches an undergraduate course--English travel writers to the Middle East: Cross-Cultural Perspectives--which introduces students to Islam and an array of Muslim cultures. She has also lived and taught in Ankara, Turkey and Semey, Kazakhstan. An essay about her work with Kazakhstani students to rewrite and stage Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet appeared recently in College Literature.
