MIRS-African Studies Student
About
Jasmine is pursuing her Masters in International and Regional Studies with a specialization in African Studies. The principle focus of her research is the cycle of violence in Central and Eastern Africa (focusing on the Rwandan Genocide and Great War of Africa), and International Law.
In December 2023, Jasmine earned a BA in History while minoring in Political Science at Schreiner University. Jasmine comes from a university with no African studies programs and so her interests were piqued through an international law and a US-Global South class. Jasmine seeks to develop a detailed and comprehensive thesis to help bring further awareness to the ongoing Congo conflict. Jasmine has traveled for her historical studies to Italy (undergraduate study abroad), Romania, Mexico and El Salvador, she has also spent her time studying Spanish, Italian, French, and Portuguese.
