About
Ian is pursuing a Masters in International and Regional Studies with a specialization in Southeast Asian studies. His research has a principal focus on Indonesia and the Malay Archipelago. Ian earned a BS from the University of Michigan in biopsychology, cognition, and neuroscience with a minor in political science. His academic interests include contemporary geopolitical relationships, the historical development of national identities, and how the United States regional diplomacy can optimally function. Since 2019, Ian has lived and traveled in many parts of the world, including undergraduate international study in both Southeast Asia and Southern Africa. Most recently, he completed intensive language study of Portuguese while living in Brazil, then traveled extensively through South America.
