About
Yiyang's interests lie in Chinese religion (particularly folk beliefs) and historical anthropology. Currently, he is working on the destruction and reconstruction of religion in China after 1949, exploring the breakdown and rebuilding of social relations, as well as how people remember and forget this "painful" history.
In addition to this main project, Yiyang is intrigued by topics such as "jishi 寄世" (consecrating children to deities as godchildren), the worship of Mao, "kutong ta 枯童塔" (towers used to bury prematurely deceased children), and supernatural imaginaries surrounding mountains. He welcomes emails from anyone interested in the topics mentioned above.
