The Department of Chemistry is excited to announce our Faculty Recruiting program for 2024-2025!   

The Department of Chemistry at the University of Michigan is a dynamic department with a long tradition of excellence in the chemical sciences, and we invite applications for tenure-track positions in any area of chemistry (including analytical, chemical biology, education, inorganic, materials, organic, and physical) with an anticipated start date of August 25, 2025. Applicants must have a Ph.D., and these positions will be University-year appointments (9-months academic-year salary with summer salary supported by research funds). We seek candidates who will cultivate an internationally recognized program of scholarly research, excel in teaching and mentoring at the undergraduate and graduate levels, promote an inclusive scholarly environment, and commit to building a diverse intellectual community.

We seek a teaching faculty member (Lecturer III position) who will contribute to undergraduate teaching in two introductory lab courses: Investigations in Chemistry (Chem 211) and Synthesis and Characterization of Organic Compounds (Chem 216). In future years, there may be opportunities to lead instruction in other parts of the lab and lecture curriculum. In addition to teaching, lecturers also contribute to the department by (a) participating in course and curriculum development, (b) doing undergraduate academic advising, (c) assisting with coordinating, training, and supervising large (10-35) groups of GSIs in the introductory courses, (d) serving as course coordinators in multi-section courses that have multiple faculty instructors, (e) serving on appropriate Departmental, College, and University committees, and (f) enhancing the visibility of our undergraduate program with publications, presentations, or other service-related activities on campus.
