About
Taylor Seaver De La Fuente is a Chicana/Tejana scholar born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas. With her BA in History and her MAIS in Mexican American Studies, Taylor’s research focuses on the history of colonization in the Texas-Mexico borderlands, examining the effects of, and resistance to, colonial legacies through various modes: Chicanx student activism, farmworker labor, and most recently, Chicana/Mexicana aesthetics & dress. As the daughter and grand-daughter of Mexican migrant farmworkers, Taylor’s lived experience and cultural heritage has always been connected to the land that is at the center of her work.
As a Ph.D. student at the University of Michigan, Taylor explores the connection between the Chicana/Mexicana body to land. More specifically, the ways in which Chicanas interact with & express their identities in relation to historical trauma, contributing to broader conversations about colonial legacies, aesthetics, and Chicana identities.
