About
Professor Cheney-Lippold teaches and writes on the impact of digital media on our social and political lives.
His newest book, Ex Ante: Power and Prediction in the Real-Time Future (University of Chicago Press, 2027), is about machine learning algorithms that construct streams of datafied, real-time futurity. Parts of this research on chess engines and Silicon Valley futurism have already been published in article form.
He is also the author of We Are Data: Algorithms and the Making of our Digital Selves (NYU Press, 2017).
