About
I am from the lovely, sunny Southern California. Specifically from Corona, California, which sounds extremely unfortunate in light of the ongoing pandemic. Not my favorite city, but definitely up there. That honor has been bestowed to San Diego, the city with the best Mexican food in the country and the best weather. Plus it has a Ben & Jerry's, which is a must for any city I live in; hence, Ann Arbor. That was part of the reason I ended up here. The plan is to be a Professor of Law someday; the journey there has been ~different~: I started out at the University of California - Irvine, as an Engineering Student. Not for me. So, I transferred to the University of Michigan - Dearborn and transferred to Ann Arbor, where I'm now studying Political Science and Sociology with minors in Writing and History! Next on the list is hopefully some experience in D.C., and then graduate school, maybe (hopefully) back in Michigan, where I will pursue a joint PhD and JD so I can be in school for forever. At Dearborn, I was a teacher's assistant for a Sociology professor and have wanted to teach ever since, so my interests are pretty centered around academia. Research is a really big part of that, which is why I love UROP. I met one of my favorite people here, Charmise, and am so grateful to have taken her section. UROP offers the networking advantage that other methods tend to lack (and you get to be around your peers, which is so, so important) that is essential for graduate school applications and navigating university life as best as possible, which lends itself to my life plan: so yes, the life plan is to be one of the first tenured Latina Professors of Law at a top university and do some public policy research while I'm at it. This way I never have to give up summer vacations or work on major holidays! During that time, I can pursue my other passions: baking, face masks, sunny weather, and Christmas. It's a wonderful goal. Somewhere in the mix, I'll have lots of dogs and a family. For now, I am just a member of La Casa, Pi Sigma Alpha, a PF, a Foster at D.A.C.C., a research fellow/assistant, and a Senior planning to graduate in 2021--a state I am perfectly content with :)
