About
I am Nada, a senior on the pre-med track studying Biochemistry at LSA. I grew up in Dearborn, MI, home of the largest population of Arabs in the US! As a UROP student, I conducted neurobiology research under the Corfas Lab to study a protein linked to schizophrenia and cognitive development. My favorite part of doing research was getting a real look at the lengthy process of advancing Science and medicine. I appreciated working on a project larger than myself and being a part of a scientific community that is inching towards remarkable discoveries daily. Upon graduating in May 2021, I hope to attend a medical school to specialize in pediatrics. Empowering and uplifting marginalized children has always been an exciting component of my life and I intend on making it my life career through medicine. In addition to that, I love collaborating and working with peers at U of M. I tutor organic chemistry at the SLC and am very excited to facilitate a UROP class. UROP creates a refreshing, yet warm atmosphere for everyone who walks into their office and I am eager to be a part of the team, especially to welcome U of M’s incoming first year students. Beyond academics, I am involved in the University of Michigan Young Science Innovators, Sunny and the Muslim Student's Association on campus. When I finally get some free time, I love to exercise and get a run in or you will most likely catch me at the diag (my favorite place on campus) playing volleyball with friends. Don’t be shy to jump into the circle if you see me there!
