About
My name is Matthew Stelmaszek, but I typically just go by Matt. I am studying Biomolecular Sciences and plan to graduate after the Winter semester in May 2021. I have spent my entire life in Canton, Michigan, so I have always been super close to campus. I love Ann Arbor! I like to play video games, bike, go for nature walks, and paint when things get stressful. I am really into geckos and would love one as a pet after I am done with school! (It's going to be awhile before that happens.) I love UROP because it prepares you to work in new environments you may have never been exposed to before, and it gives you the tools you need to continue on in research. I plan to apply to medical school in the next cycle. I transferred from Washtenaw Community College before attending U of M. I had many amazing experiences there, including working in their cadaver lab. Along with my academics, I am also a chair in the MED premed fraternity, a volunteer at Malta medical and dental clinic for underserved populations in downtown Detroit, and a member of an LGBTQ+ Mental Health Group off campus. My favorite place on campus is Argo because I love the vibes of the river and hanging out by it. My favorite restaurant on campus is Sava's because I really like their falafel.
