About
I was born in Lagos, Nigeria and raised in Lansing then Grand Rapids, MI. As a senior, I study political science and psychology with a minor in moral and political philosophy, and, short term, I am working towards law school with a focus in corporate law. Long-term, I'm driven towards interacting with the law as a federal judge. Outside of class, I've been a part of campus organizations like the Central Student Government and Residence Halls Association, and currently serve as the vice president of the Kappa Alpha Pi Pre-Law Fraternity. I've also researched lobbying in state legislatures and community development in Detroit neighborhoods through UROP and DCBRP (now DCERP). UROP has helped direct my academic interests by addressing the tough technical questions of how to turn social inquiry into various scientific research. What I've gained from these experiences is insight into the near limitless ways one can approach research and apply knowledge. I am very interested in learning about why societies progress and how to define that progression so I also love studying political and cultural history. This is probably why my favorite genres to read are historical and science-fiction since they try to answer what progress means while still highlighting consistent themes in the human experience in widely different environments. What I love to do most in my free time is draw, write, and read, and, though I don't watch it, I'll play basketball with anyone any day. What I'm most looking forward to this last year of my undergraduate experience is sharing what I've learned and learning more with my UROP communities.
