About
I’m currently a senior at the University of Michigan majoring in Biomolecular Science. In the future, I hope to attend medical school and become a physician. I grew up in Lemont, Illinois, where I became an avid tennis player and fan. Besides tennis, I love to cut people’s hair as a self taught barber in my free time. During my freshman year at the University of Michigan, I co-founded a non-profit, Paani, which aims to improve sanitation standards in Pakistan. Through the partnerships I’ve made through Paani, I got to visit rural Pakistan after my freshman year to assist in the water well construction process! I also am a proud member of the Muslim Students’ Association.
On campus, my favorite places to study are the Biological Science Building and the Fish Bowl. However, when I’m relaxing I like to hang out with my friends in Tower Plaza, or outside in the Diag.
I love UROP because it has truly led to tremendous personal growth, not only as a researcher but also as a leader. I remember that in my first year at UM, I tried really hard to find research but was unsuccessful. UROP does a great job of pairing students with outstanding researchers, who become long-term mentors throughout your college career. It's because of this great research opportunity that I’ve had for the past three years, that I became a peer facilitator for the program.
