Social Sciences Peer Facilitator
About
Timothy Mayer is a fourth year student majoring in psychology with a concentration in development, psychopathology, and mental health. He plans to use his education at the University of Michigan and beyond to help adolescents and young adults experiencing psychological distress reach a place of wellness. Timothy was a part of UROP as a freshmen where he was in a social sciences seminar, as well as during his sophomore year where he was a part of UROP's Research Scholars program. Both years, he had the opportunity to work under Jennifer Barber on the Relationship Dynamics and Social Life (RDSL) study, a project that tracks the factors and relationships that lead to unexpected pregnancies in young women. He is thrilled to now have the opportunity to work as a Social Science Peer Facilitator, where he plans to combine his knowledge and experiences from UROP, his education, and his past work experiences to create a seminar space where students feel comfortable, respected, and excited about the innovative research opportunities that exist here at the University of Michigan. Outside of all this, Timothy loves to travel and immerse himself in nature, is a novice crocheter, and a vegan cuisine enthusiast. Tim is excited to build community in his UROP seminar and introduce students to the awesome research and professional opportunities that exist here at U of M!
