About
I am an Ecology and Evolutionary Biology major and plan to graduate after the winter term in 2024. Before college, I was born and raised in Lenawee County, Michigan, with all of my memorable life specifically in Tecumseh. After my undergraduate years, I hope to go on to graduate school and pursue a Ph.D. My research interests include water quality, parasite-host interactions, science communication, and environmental justice. For a career, I would love to work in a lab and/or teach as a professor. I love UROP since it has given me multiple experiences where I have had the opportunity to learn about research, connect with others, and explore my interests. Thanks to the experiences UROP has offered me, I am now working with my mentor and a collaborator to publish a research commentary about an important public health issue with lead contamination in Detroit.
On campus, I am involved with the Graham Sustainability Scholars, the Great Lakes Writers Corps, and M-STEM. As part of the Great Lakes Writers Corps, I was able to live in the Tawas Point Lighthouse on the shore of Lake Huron for two weeks in May of 2022! Off campus, I volunteer for Michigan HOBY (Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership) and Re-Tree Tecumseh. In my free time, I enjoy running, kayaking, playing the violin, and watching comedy. I also enjoy seeing new places, whether it is through traveling or close to home. I do not have a favorite destination, but I did visit Toronto recently and thought it was pretty cool!
