About
I am a third-year student majoring in Biochemistry. I transferred to U-M from Wayne State University after my first year. After graduating, I hope to pursue an MD/PhD and eventually find a career that allows me to engage in basic science research while performing patient care.
As a UROP student, I conducted research in a Human Genetics lab where we studied DNA repair and lymphocyte development. One of my favorite parts of UROP has been learning how to be an independent researcher. I have grown immensely, from initially learning lab techniques to carrying out protocols, to now troubleshooting them on my own. UROP has made me more comfortable with the uncertainty that research can bring. It has also given me an incredible community of researchers, mentors, and peers who have guided me both academically and personally. This past summer, I continued my research through the UROP Biomedical & Life Sciences Summer Fellowship, and I plan to continue in the same lab until I graduate!
Outside of my academic commitments, I volunteer at Forgotten Harvest and for Michigan Humane. I enjoy listening to music, long drives, and late-night movie marathons!
I am so excited to be joining UROP again as a Peer Facilitator and to offer my advice and experience to guide my peers.
