About
Hey, this is Khaled! I'm a junior studying biomedical engineering on the pre-dental track. I hope to be some type of dentist, possibly an orthodontist (advertising my future office on the UROP page, gotta start somewhere). The subjects I've enjoyed studying most throughout my educational career were biology and chemistry. Some things I like to do include running, working out, and spending time with family and friends.
I joined UROP my sophomore year, and it was one of my most fulfilling experience over the last two years at the university. Before UROP, I had no clue what the academia/corporate world was like post-grad, however, UROP did a great job introducing me. I joined the cardiac biomechanics lab, producing and analyzing models for patients with cardiac disease, specifically mitral regurgitation. Through the lab, I learned how to work as a team, got exposed to a corporate-style setting (with my own cubicle, felt a little luxurious for a simple undergrad), and making sure I make it on time to my shifts (Drive to NCRC with a 20 minute walk from my car...). I look forward to sharing these experiences as a peer facilitator this year.
