About
Hi! My name is Jahnavi. I’m a senior from Northville, Michigan studying Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology (MCDB) and Anthropology. I will be graduating in the spring of next year (2024), and my hope is to go to medical school to become a doctor. I would love to push for more accessible healthcare and get involved in patient advocacy. UROP has been a major part of my UM experience - it provided me with a group of peers who made me feel safe and welcomed right when I started my first year. I joined the Farkash Lab where I studied initial stage cases of BK polyomavirus in transplanted kidneys. Doing research helped me grow confident in my abilities as a learner and assured me that I’m pursuing the right field. This has allowed me to explore more opportunities on campus while still feeling grounded in the UROP community. I’m so excited to return as a Peer Facilitator this year!
Aside from school, I’m involved in MedLaunch, Lunar Doula Support Network, and I work as a patient attendant at Michigan Medicine. I spend a lot of my free time listening to music (give me song recommendations!), watching movies with friends, baking, and going on walks. If you happen to be interested in primates (slow lorises are my favorite), I would love to talk about them. I also like playing games with my friends at Pinball Pete’s and pretending to study at the courtyard of the Law Quad when it’s warm out. Don’t be afraid to say hi if you see me around campus!
