About
My name is Kyle Kirsch, and I am a senior majoring in Biology, Health, and Society with a minor in German. I want to pursue a career as a physician, and I am particularly interested in pediatrics, which developed throughout working on my UROP project at C.S. Mott Children's Hospital. Through this research, I have had the opportunity to study chronic critical illness in pediatric patients and learn about the impact this data will provide to patients and their families. One of my favorite aspects of UROP has been learning about the research process for not only the health sciences, but the variety of disciplines that UROP supports.
I am from Shelby Township, Michigan, and outside of research, I enjoy staying involved on campus through organizations including Hands-on Health, German Club, and Washtenaw Rock Stars, where I teach guitar to children at community centers throughout Washtenaw County. I also serve as a peer mentor for the German Department, tutor for Michigan Athletics, and volunteer at Michigan Medicine.
One of the highlights of my time at Michigan has been studying abroad at the Goethe Institute in Freiburg, Germany. Outside of classes, I enjoy playing guitar, listening to music, mountain biking, and watching and playing sports with my friends. I am excited to continue being part of the UROP community and look forward to getting to know new students and helping them make the most of their research experience!
